In this post I will be talking about our decision not to use
that many props, we settled on using minimalistic props because it will make
the props that we have used more effective, the first prop that we used was my
car, we thought that using the car would give the aspect of traveling places
and going above and beyond to get to the locations where he had love with this
girl.
In the car we used the heart shaped air freshener to
emphasise to the audience that this heart dangling on a string is his heart
hanging by a thread because it is being taken away as his love is falling
through his fingers.
Another prop that we used was a j2o bottle where we made it
look like it was being smashes; we used this to make it look like I was
drinking alcohol with the labels taken off the bottle so there wasn’t any product
placement. Using this prop gave us more possibilities for shots as it allowed
us to use the prop in motion to make the scene more emotional.
Finally, the only other prop that we used in our video was
my phone, the only reason that we chose to use this is because of how the use
of it fits with the lyric of ‘I type a text, but then I never mind that’
personally with our target audience being the young teen genre it would’ve been
stupid not to have some kind of technological input as every teen uses phones
and we pounced on the chance to use a phone in our video from this lyric.
Even though we had four props in our video that is all that
we need, the props we used were effective and memorable and that’s all we want
is for our video to stick in people'
