Even though it was over 10 years later another very well known early music video was Walt disneys fantasia that was released in 1940, this is an iconic early music video because it was based around famous pieces of classical music.
In the 1970s the 'modern era'of music videos was where some of the most prolific artists started their first music videos and began to make a name for themselves through these videos, a well known example of this would be queens 'bohemian rhapsody' which everyone has heard of but the music video was the first of its kind, queen decided to create the first music video which was a promo video at the same time.
When you think of music videos MTV is the first thing that comes to your head and it first aired on TV in 1981, the first video to be played was the bugles 'video killed by radio star' 36 years ago and still to this day it is where people go to watch premieres of music videos from our current generation, although they play new music they are the only music channel to keep hold of their roots and continuously play songs from all generations to attract all types of audiences.
